Colts WR Michael Pittman (quad) downgraded to out vs. Jaguars

Image
Matt Ryan will be without his top target in Week 2. The Colts on Saturday announced wide receiver Michael Pittman (quad) has been downgraded to out for Sunday's road game in Jacksonville. Pittman was initially listed as questionable. Pittman did not practice on Thursday and Friday due to a quad injury that came up on Wednesday. There was optimism from the team about Pittman's availability heading into the weekend, but the Colts will instead protect their No. 1 wideout from making the injury any worse. Pittman led the team with nine receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown in last week's 20-20 tie against the Texans. Coming off his first 1,000-yard season, the third-year WR already showed tremendous growth during Kickoff Weekend. Ryan will also be without Alec Pierce on Sunday as the rookie WR was ruled out with a concussion. The Colts elevated practice-squad WR Keke Coutee to the active roster in the wake of Pittman's downgrade. Michael Strachan, Parris Campbell and As

Jerry Jones' message to Cowboys fans who already think season is over: I've seen 'David slay the giant'

Dallas Cowboys fans are already in the dumps after a Week 1 loss, which included a thumb injury to Dak Prescott that will force the quarterback to the sideline for at least the next several weeks. Adding to Dallas's depression was that the Cowboys didn't look good before Prescott got hurt, with the offense unable to generate anything against the Buccaneers. Owner Jerry Jones isn't so quick to declare the season a failure. He was asked Tuesday on the Shan and RJ show on 105.3 The Fan about his message to fans who say the season is already over. "One of the things that has stood me about football, and I'm comparing to the things that we all do every day away from the football is that it can be looking very dark, dark for you and then it can reverse on you in an instant," Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. "It can go positive in an instant after you've got -- we've got a lot of football. We've got a lot of really top football players. And

Roster Cuts NFL 2022: When are NFL roster cuts this season?

Image
The NFL announced its schedule for the upcoming year on Tuesday, locking in all the significant dates between now and the start of spring workouts in 2023. However, there are a few significant deadlines that must be met before the start of the upcoming offseason. The official cut-off dates for the upcoming pre-season and the 2022 trade deadline are both included. Here is a look at those seasonally important dates as well as a preview of the key occasions for next spring. NFL Roster Cuts The NFL is continuing to use a three-phased roster cut procedure that it first implemented in 2021. The league used a two-phase cutback system some years ago, reducing off-season rosters from 90 to 75 before reducing them further to 53. When the NFL opted to switch to a single cut from 90 to 53 in 2018 and 2019, that issue was resolved. However, in 2020, the NFL returned to a two-step cut from 90 to 80 to 53. The switch to a three-game preseason last year was timed with a new strategy. This year, there

What is the Pro Football Hall of Fame? The Pro Football Hall of Fame is a museum and attraction that opened in 1963 as the home of all things professional football. The Hall of Fame "pays tribute to the talents and triumphs of pro football's greatest legends," according to its official website, chronicling within its walls "the stories and circumstances of play that bring to life words such as courage, dedication, vision, fair play, integrity and excellence." Where is the Pro Football Hall of Fame? The Pro Football Hall of Fame is located in Canton, Ohio, birthplace of the NFL. 2022 NFL season: Most overrated player on all 32 NFL teams

Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray, QB There is no doubt that Kyler Murray is a talented quarterback, and one of the young, dynamic stars in the NFL today. That is not the question. The only question is whether or not he was worth the amount of money the Arizona Cardinals paid him to their franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future. Murray has never led his team to a ten-win season, and even last year, when they made the playoffs, he looked terrible in his debut. He is going to win a lot of games for the Cardinals, and likely make a lot of Pro Bowls, but making him the second-highest paid player in the NFL is a stretch. Atlanta Falcons, Lorenzo Carter, LB After starting his career with the New York Giants, Lorenzo Carter is coming back home, as he signed a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons. A star at the University of Georgia, Carter is going to be expected to help in the rebuild in Atlanta, a team that has struggled since making it to the Super Bowl a few years back. While C

The Miami Dolphins receiver opened practice by addressing fans, welcoming them to 2022 NFL training camp before landing a flip on the field to get them hyped. Later in practice, he connected with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa on a 65-yard strike for a touchdown that once again energized the crowd. Hill followed that up by likening the Dolphins receivers to Waffle House in an interview with ESPN's Jeff Darlington, because "everyone's open 24 hours." Elsewhere, a couple of rookie wideouts managed to make their mark. In New Orleans, Saints reporter Katherine Terrell said Chris Olave had the play of the day, connecting with quarterback Jameis Winston on a 60-yard TD in 11-on-11 work with the first unit. In Jets camp, No. 10 overall pick Garrett Wilson made two standout catches during practice in a strong day for New York's heralded rookie class, according to Jets reporter Rich Cimini. Here's what else you need to know from camps across the league: What our NFL Natio
