Colts All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson (ankle/knee) placed on injured reserve

 The Indianapolis Colts will be without their All-Pro guard for at least three weeks.



Quenton Nelson (ankle/knee) is being placed on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday. Nelson will miss a minimum of three weeks while on IR.

Tim Tebow wasn't the only former first-round quarterback to get waived after just one preseason game. The San Francisco 49ers cut former first-rounder Josh Rosen on Tuesday, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Rosen, 24, played the majority of the second half during the 49ers' first preseason game. He finished the contest 10 of 15 for 93 yards. Rosen threw one interception and no touchdowns during the contest.  With Jimmy Garoppolo and Trey Lance set as the team's top two options at the position, Rosen was hard pressed for reps during practice. Trade discussions, a key part of roster-building that I wrote about in August, happen year-round. They can even linger after the trade deadline -- discussions that went dormant over the latter portion of the regular season can pick up again in January or February, whether between the same teams, a new partner or with a partner who is now working for a new team. 2021 NFL Preseason, Week 3: 1 thing to watch for from all 32 teams

 The final week of the NFL preseason is upon us, and just two days after Sunday's action, NFL clubs have a deadline to make deep cuts to their rosters. This won't be the minor trimming that the NFL's rules on roster reduction demanded after Week 1 and Week 2 of the preseason -- this will be a slashing, from a maximum of 80 to 53, and performances this week will go a long way in determining who makes the cut. Also, quarterback battles in San Francisco, New England and elsewhere will get their final exhibition stanza. NFL Network will air seven games this weekend, including three each on Saturday and Sunday. Here's one thing to watch for from all 32 teams in Week 3 of the NFL preseason.
